ROGUE ARGOS FACEBOOK PAGE PROMISES HD TVS IN RETURN FOR “LIKES”

Argos, the well-liked UK retailer, warned its customers about a fake Facebook page that scammers use to yield Facebook “Likes.”
As per Hoax Slayer, the bogus Argos page directs users to “Like” and share the scam, promising them HD TVs.
Of course, promised prizes remains as a story. Instead, the scammers can make a bulky profit if they trick a large number of users into liking their FB page.
That’s since they can later sell the page on the black market to other fraudsters who can use it to advertise their shady services and products, or simply to distribute other scams.
Argos is aware of the bogus Facebook page.
“Hi everyone, we have been advised that there is alternative page on Facebook claiming to be Argos and they are running a competition to win an LG TV,” the company wrote on its official Facebook page.
“Please be aware that neither this competition nor the page has any connection to Argos. We can advise that any authorized competitions or offers will be shown on this Facebook page or on argos.co.uk.”
